Even with the advent of digital music files, you might find that you need a CD rack, CD storage cabinet or at the very least a CD storage box. If you're like a lot of people, you have a number of CDs that you want to hold onto and that require some sort of CD storage solution.
Whether you have dozens or thousands of CDs in your collection, there are a variety of stylish CD storage options available from static shelves to spinning racks to locking cabinets. Media experts tend to agree that CDs and DVDs should be stored in such a way that they are vertically oriented, but you will find storage solutions that allow either vertical or horizontal orientation of your discs.
Probably the most inexpensive storage options are CD storage boxes. They come in a variety of sizes and usually hold at least 26 discs per box. These can be attractive additions to your décor, and are sturdy if you need to stack them. Some also come with space for a label on the front, similar to a filing cabinet, so you can easily sort by genre, artist, alphabetically, etc.

Another inexpensive solution may be a desktop or tabletop CD storage rack. These are perfect for small collections, or if you want to make it easy to access your favorite discs.
If space is a concern and you want your CD collection to be accessible, consider a spinning CD rack. Spinners can hold hundreds of CDs in a very small amount of space, and it's easy to access your entire collection.
Towers, racks and static shelves are also popular choices for CD storage. These come in a variety of sizes and finishes, making it easy to find an attractive solution that fits your décor and the space you have available.
Probably the most popular option is a CD storage cabinet, or a TV stand that features space for CD storage. A cabinet allows you to conceal your CD or DVD collection, and some models include locks in case you want to secure your collection. Cabinets are available in a number of different styles, from classic designs to modern takes on apothecary or library-style cabinets. Many cabinets incorporate shelving into the doors themselves, which really maximizes the storage area within the cabinet. CD storage cabinets come in all sizes, and some can conveniently hold other items as well, such as video games, records, board games and other entertainment items.
Whichever option you choose, it's recommended that you allow room for your collection to grow so you don't have to replace your CD storage rack, tower, spinner or cabinet in the future.
